Elsbeth Heaman is a professor of history at McGill University. She has written four monographs on such subjects as exhibitions, hospital medicine, the state, and taxes. Her current research is on civilization and consent. She is the 2018 recipient of the Governor General’s History Award for Scholarly Research: The Sir John A Macdonald Prize.
