Introducing Canada’s top young storytellers
They are curious, savvy, and dedicated to understanding and sharing the stories of the past. Canada’s History Society is pleased to announce the 2024 winners of Young Citizens — the national program for Heritage Fairs.
Congratulations to: Owen Pelletier (Dalhousie, New Brunswick), Tomas Lambert (St. Catharines, Ontario), Chizaram Ikechukwu (Medicine Hat, Alberta), and Johanna Forbes (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island). For their exceptional work, each student will receive a $500 contribution towards an RESP.
Since 2012, the Young Citizens program has encouraged students to transform their Heritage Fair projects into digital stories, using primary sources, interviews, re-enactments, and other creative elements to engage viewers. More than 1,000 student videos have been posted to YoungCitizens.ca.
Be sure to watch the winning entries below. Congratulations again to this year’s winners!
