What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

I learned about how Harriet Brooks fought for equality for women in the world of science and why she did so.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I have learned from Harriet's story that when you have a goal to make a change, you put everything you've got into it. Even after all of her sorrow from her late children, she didn't stop believing in other women in science. By becoming Canada's first female nuclear physicist, she taught me that no matter what gender you are, you can do and become anything.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

Today, it is easier to protect yourself from getting radiation poisoning as there are equipment and safety measures in place to keep you safe. Today your gender does not determine your profession or career while in the past it did.
