Both of us are originally from South Africa. We wanted to share our immigration process and how hard it is. We begin our presentation with our title and introducing ourselves, then we open with a fun fact explaining how many South African immigrants there are in each province in Canada. Next, Mikaela shares her family immigration process then Esther shares hers. After we've shared our immigration process, Mikaela tells the audience about what jobs in Canada would be good for a South African immigrants. Next Esther explains about the differences between South Africa and Canada. When Esther is done, Mikaela talks about the main reasons that South Africans move to Canada. Later, Esther explains about the impact South Africa has made on Canada over the past couple years. The last part of our presentation is encouraging the audience to try our traditional South African and Canadian foods. After our presentation, we thank the audience for their time as they ask questions. We try to make similarities to our presentation when we answer their questions. 

What sources and evidence did you consult for your project? What different perspectives did they provide on your topic?

We explained what the immigration was like for ourselves and at the bottom of each paragraph, there is an information piece that tells you where the information is from.  

We interviewed family members such as our parents and grandparents and used sources from the internet. Esther learned that there are a lot more South Africans in Canada than she thought. Mikaela learned that there are a lot of South African doctors in Canada.

What is the historical significance of your topic?

The historical significance of our topic is shown by how many South African immigrants there are in Canada, how long it takes to get to Canada, and the immigration process like legal rights. Immigration made a lot of impact in Canada. There are now a lot of immigration policies and programs.

Moving from South Africa to Canada was hard for our families. Our parents wanted to move for safety issues. Canada is a safe space for all immigrants from different countries. There are also job opportunities in Canada.

Why did you choose this topic? 

We wanted to share our journey and the process of moving to a different country.
