InQueeries: 2SLGBTQ+ Histories of Southwestern Alberta

In 2019 five community partners came together to create an exhibition about queer histories in southwestern Alberta. In this webinar, Galt Museum & Archives curator Aimee Benoit, and University of Lethbridge research assistant and co-curator Liam Devitt, share the unique youth curator model and the oral history process used to create InQueeries: 2SLGBTQ+ Histories of Southwestern Alberta.

About these presenters

Liam Devitt (they/them) is a third-year undergraduate at the University of Lethbridge in History and Women and Gender Studies. Liam worked as a curatorial and research assistant on the exhibit InQueeries: 2SLGBTQ+ Histories of Southwestern Alberta at the Galt Museum and Archives. Currently, Liam is working on a project with Dr. Kristine Alexander (Lethbridge) and Dr. Kristina Llewellyn (Waterloo) on the history of the Model United Nations movement in Canada. 

Aimee Benoit (she/her) is curator at the Galt Museum & Archives in Lethbridge. She has worked in museums for about twenty years, managing and curating cultural history collections. Aimee values opportunities to work with community groups and to grow her curatorial practice through collaborative and co-creative exhibition development processes.
