Craig Kielberger

This projects tells people about Craig Kielburger and his quest to free children around the world from child labour. Craig leads the organizations Free the Children and Me to We. He also does various group camps for young people.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The most interesting thing I learned in this project is that Craig Kielburger and I were both inspired by the same person. He started his organization when he was only 12 years old, after learning about Iqbal, a former child labourer. After I read about Iqbal, I wanted to know how I could make a difference, and I found out about Craig Kielburger and Free the Children.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

Young people can make a difference in the world. Though we may face challenges, we can stand up for what is right even when others other don't agree. You are never, ever too young to help change the world!

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

Nowadays, it is easier for people to share information than it was when Craig Kielburger started. People can learn about events happening in their communities. More people now are aware of the issue of child labour, thanks to Craig Kielburger.
