Sweet Story
My project is about the sweet story of Ganong Chocolate. You'll learn about the past and present of the candy company based in St. Stephen, New Brunswick.
What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?
The most interesting thing I learned was that Ganong was the first candy company in Canada to start selling 10 cent chocolate bars.
What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?
I learned that if you strongly believe in something, you should stay with it. Through everything James and Gilbert went through, they never let anything or anyone try to stop them.
How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?
The lives of people back then are different than they are now because we have machines to make chocolate now to make their jobs a lot easier. Back then, the had to hand dip the candy in chocolate and it took a long time.
