Growing up in Fort Selkirk

Its about 4-yr-old Ione Christensen who “Laid an Egg!” She was in Fort Selkirk at the time.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

Ione actually ate the eggshells each morning for a week! Which was weird, but to be fair she was only four years old. And she told me a few other great stories.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

The way most people got to the Klondike was hiking over the Chilkoot Trail. Our class hiked the Chilkoot and it was a great experience for us to bond and learn about the trail.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

Much more technically advanced throughout the generations. Easier and having much more than the people then. First Nations rights, proper plumbing, cable, even the little things count.
