The history of Canada’s residential school system through a stop motion video.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The large amount of residential schools in Canada shocked me as well as how long they were open for. Also the implication of Sir John A. Macdonald in this tragedy was a sad discovery.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I have learned about how much of a secret the residential schools for First Nation children were and how they are such an important but sombre part of Canadian history.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

I feel very fortunate to not be one of the thousands of First Nation children that has suffered terrible abuse in these schools. This trauma also had a huge impact on their adult lives. I am grateful that I was brought up in a loving family and community.
