CWF to the Rescue

My project is about the Canadian Wildlife Federation; what the organization is about, what they are doing in regards to the protection and preservation of nature and wildlife, how they have changed since they started and how they have made positive impact in Canada.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The most interesting thing I learned about my topic was that dams that we build block fish from migrating home, so we build fishways, which are like steps that fish can swim on to get past dams.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I have learned that what we do as humans affects other animals as well as our environment. Sometimes, we harm animals without even noticing it. Canada has a lot of parks and forests and it is an important responsibility to maintain good stewardship to protect all of our nature, animals and the environment.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

The CWF was formed in 1962 when people decided wildlife needed a national voice. Now more than ever, issues facing wildlife need to be addressed because of the ongoing issue of climate change. Animals are struggling with this change and their concerns need to be heard.
