Big Tancook Island

My project is on Big Tancook Island, a small island located in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia. The project covers settlement, ferry service, industry, school and meaning.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The most interesting thing that I learned about Big Tancook is that there use to be enough students for two schools and now there are only 7 students at school.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I have learned that Canada is an interesting place and small places like Big Tancook Island should be explored more.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

Living on Big Tancook Island is easier now than in the past. Prior to the ferry service, people didn't leave the island often. Now, we are a ferry service that runs multiple times each day.
