Toronto's Majestic Casa Loma
The history of Toronto’s Majestic Casa Loma, which includes the owners, how it affected the public, history, construction and general knowledge about the castle.
What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?
The most interesting thing I learned was that during the Second World War Casa Loma was used to conceal research on sonar and U-boat detection. All happening under a simple sheet marked Under Repairs. Workmen were dressed as construction workers to get in and out of Casa Loma without the public noticing.
What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?
How the Casa Loma is actually a great deal of Toronto's history. Which connects other historical events such as the First World War and the Second World War. Also including history about Girl Guides Canada. Along with being a current tourist destination.
How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?
My life today is very different compared to the occupants of Casa Loma. Having World Wars happen during the Casa Loma time and the fact that the occupants lived in a glamorous castle with staff such as servants and maids. Also, technology and architecture is very different through the past 100 years.
