This video will give you a basic idea of how insulin was discovered. It is also about the impact insulin has on Canadian citizens and Canada’s heritage.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

Sir Frederick Banting sold the patent for insulin. He then chose to donate the profit to all diabetics. For a while after that, all diabetics had access to insulin.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

"A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives." This quote is by the great Jackie Robinson. Sir Frederick Banting is a perfect example of this. He was a selfless man and has a great impact on Canadian citizens and heritage. To build a stronger country, people like Banting are essential.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

If someone was diabetic before insulin, it was like a death sentence. Now, diabetes can be controlled by insulin and proper health care. There has definitively been a big advancement in treating diabetes.
