A Reflection of the Rural Postal System in Newfoundland

My project is a reflection of the Rural Postal System in Newfoundland. It follows me as I walk in their footsteps to show how the Postal System has changed over the years.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The most interesting thing that I have learned about the postal system is, while researching I learned of my long list of family members who has and still work in the system. The changes that have taken place from then till now amazes me. If only those people could see how easy communicating and the transfer of materials has become.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

What lessons I have learned and would like to share with other Canadians like myself are, even though things change, if it's built with a strong foundation it will stand the test of time, especially if it's willing to change with it, to meet current day needs. To me the postal service has done this. The hard work of those involved made it possible for the system to work.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

My life today and those who presently work in the postal system seem to have it much easier compared to those I've studied. Gone are the days when the mail was delivered by boat or by horse and has now been replaced with planes, trucks and computers. While the main objective is still the same how it's done has changed tremendously.
