Who shot Billy?

On a dark and snowy December night 100 years ago, Whitby's most notorious and darkest murder mystery was revealed. No one has ever brought justice to this mystery and who, who could be the devil behind this cruel crime?

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

I was fascinated by the puzzled truth of the crime I studied. I was truly astonished by the fact that this notorious murder happened within our community and no one was able to solve this mystery. I was also interested by the twisted story and how the murder impacted Whitby residents.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

The lesson I have learned was that there are significant differences in solving crimes between the 1914s and present day. By using modern technology, police investigators are able to solve many mysterious crimes and bring justice to the victims in the crime. Also, this crime was every important to the criminal record of the town of Whitby.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

Our lives today are significantly different from those who lived back in the 1914s. If this crime happened in present day, the police would most likely solve this puzzled crime with the development of modern technologies including finger print testing and DNA identification. This mystery also greatly impacted Whitby residents at the time since everyone was well known to each other within this small community and it was also a great shock to them and this mystery still haunted their minds many years after the murder.
