Mi'kmaq Recipes

A look into basic recipes of our past. The simple ingredients that were used. The openness to share what one had.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

I was interested to find out all the different things they ate in the past.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I learned that keeping things simple is an easy way to eat right. I was amazed to learn how cooking was done over an open fire.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

We eat more processed foods. Now we think all food has to come from a store. In the my project people were able to go out and get their own food from nature.
