At school Heritage Fairs held all over Canada, the creators of especially impressive projects are given the chance to make videos highlighting their passion. From those entries, four Young Citizens were chosen as national laureates: Owen Pelletier (Dalhousie, New Brunswick), Tomas Lambert (St. Catharines, Ontario), Chizaram Ikechukwu (Medicine Hat, Alberta), and Johanna Forbes (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island). Each received a $500 contribution toward an RESP, and along with family members, were invited to Winnipeg in November to participate in events related the Governor General’s History Awards as well as programming set up just for them. They arrived on the morning of November 18, and by the afternoon, their experience was in full swing.
