Giving Tuesday 2024
For over 100 years, Canada’s History has been sharing the stories that help Canadians build a better understanding of our nation’s past. Canada’s History believes in the importance of bringing history into the classroom, connecting generations and amplifying the complex and diverse stories that you won’t find anywhere else.
Giving Tuesday is right around the corner!
Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024 is Giving Tuesday, a global movement that harnesses individual generosity and encourages people to give back. Thanks to the generous support of anonymous donors, all gifts made in support of our Giving Tuesday campaign will be matched up to $75,000.
We need your help to ensure that Canada’s History can continue to support educators, provide resources for youth, and to publish our award-winning stories.
- Kayak: Canada’s History Magazine for Kids is distributed free twice each year to classrooms across the country, along with related lesson plans and teacher resources. Published in both English and French, each issue celebrates a special theme from our past, such as recent issues exploring Chinese Canadian history, and elections in Canada.
- Based on the original comics featured in Kayak magazine and made possible thanks to a generous supporter of Canada’s History, “History Bits” are animated videos that teachers can use in the classroom. The diverse stories told in “History Bits” are truly bringing history to life for a new generation of Canadians.
- Held for more than 30 years across Canada, the Heritage Fairs program, supported by Canada’s History, aims to encourage students to explore Canadian history and heritage, showcase their research, and celebrate Canada’s diverse history and heritage. Thousands of students from coast to coast to coast participate in local and regional fairs each year.
- Since 2017, Canada’s History has partnered with the Historical Thinking Project to produce the Historical Thinking Institute. This program introduces educators in a variety of fields to historical thinking concepts that have been incorporated into provincial/territorial curricula across the country. Offered in both English and French, it creates lasting opportunities for teachers and students to deepen their understanding of Canada’s past.
