Andrew Stickings is a winner of the 2011 Governor General’s History Award for Excellence in Teaching. Since 2007, his students have been producing short films exploring different topics in Canadian history. In 2010, their film Pier 21: Gateway of Hope won the Best Documentary Film and Global Web Award at the Kid Witness News Global Awards in Japan.
