Vancouver Sun: A digital copy of 16th-century globe could recast B.C.’s role in Canadian history

An Elizabethan globe that exhibits accurate details of British Columbia’s coast gathered 200 years before Captain James Cook’s historic voyage of discovery in 1778 is tucked away in a private institution in Britain. Former B.C. heritage minister Sam Bawlf thinks a faithful digital reproduction of this astonishing document from before the earliest European settlements in Newfoundland or Quebec should be accessible to every Canadian.
