To celebrate their school’s 60th anniversary, the students in Geneviève Marois’ class decided to hold an exhibition on its history. They started out by examining several primary and secondary sources, and then presented the information in a number of creative ways, including with an interactive timeline, skit, movie, and dance. Some 500 students attended the exhibition, with another 250 community members turning up for the evening presentation.

Shortly after, a second group of students expressed interest in learning more about the history of their region and country. They, too, wanted to share the results of their research. After visiting and researching several historic sites, the students created an interactive map of St-Jerome. It features a photo of each site accompanied by a QR code that can be used to listen to information recorded by the students. The final map was then presented to one of the local town councillors and shared with an English class in British Columbia.
